THE HISTORY OF OUR COMPANY
The company
was conceived in December of 2000 to pursue an idea I had about hanging Christmas
lights on our new Santa Fe style home, with parapet walls. Because there was
no reasonable way to hang lights on a parapet wall, the clip hangers came
from necessity and made a lot of sense. My wife actually came up with the
name Parrot – Clips, because of the way a Parrot grasps whatever it’s
standing on, and Parapet is close to Parrot; go figure.
The first hangers were made from 1x2” wood that was nailed together
in the shape of an upside down U. The U was set over the wall and then the
lights could be stapled to the wooden frame. This prototype worked very well,
but it was labor intensive and I knew there was an easier, more cost effective
way to produce these clips.
After further research I also realized there was an even larger market for
Parrot – Clips in the sign industry, nation wide. This product will
allow consumers to hang lights – signs – banners and flags on
businesses – warehouses – apartments- block walls and fences;
anything with parapet walls.
In the spring of 2001 we filed all the necessary patent forms and enlisted
the help of a local mold builder to help us design our new clips. Using state
of the art engineering and prototype development, we successfully manufactured
a clip using molded plastic. This process took several prototypes and design
changes until we came up with the exact shapes we wanted. Once this was complete,
we contracted the same mold builders to build our plastic injection molds
that could be used to mass produce this product.
The purpose of our company is to bring to the retail and wholesale marketplace
a unique product for the consumer to be able to hang lights – signs
– banners and flags on parapet walls and block fences. This can be done
in a fast – easy – safe way without using staples, nails, anchors
or screws that could damage your home or building. I hope you enjoy Parrot
Clips as much as I do!
